Marian Gaborik and Sean Avery scored multiple goals for the New York Rangers on their way to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-4 yesterday at Madison Square Garden. Derek Mackenzie and Jared Boll notched the first two goals for the Blue Jackets in the first ten minutes of play. After the first period the Rangers found themselves up 3-2 and decided to keep the momentum going. That’s when Avery joined the action with back to back goals of his own a minute apart early in the second.
Following seven consecutive goals by New York, the Blue Jackets were able to net two more but it simply just wasn’t enough. “The biggest thing was coming back from that 2-0 deficit. It’s a big boost to our confidence,” said Avery. “It’s only one game. We can be happy about the fact that we got some goals from other guys, but it’s got to be a consistent thing.”
Columbus will look to show more consistency for their next game tonight against the Montreal Canadiens. “We got off to a good start. They took a timeout and they turned up the heat. We didn’t,” said defenseman Mike Commodore. “They are quick and we were on our heels a little bit. Then it was 7-2 before we knew it. We were still in it after the first. Then the second period was just a disaster.”
The Rangers are set to take on the Florida Panthers tomorrow at 7:30 PM before heading to Tampa Bay to match up against the Lightning. The best deals for New York Rangers tickets can be found right here at AceTicket.com!
