Kevin Garnett led his team with 24 points (11 of 12 shooting) as the Boston Celtics went on to defeat Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat 92-85 last night at American Airlines Arena. The game was tight down the stretch until Ray Allen supplied final dagger 3-ball with 1:38 left to play. “You never can take anything for granted,” said Allen. “Every win is much needed. So you just have to create momentum. That’s important.”
Rajon Rondo controlled the tempo once again for Boston with 13 points and 11 assists. Paul Pierce and Kendrick Perkins produced 31 combined as Allen followed up with 11. The C’s have three more road games ahead this week against the Charlotte Bobcats, San Antonio Spurs, and Oklahoma City Thunder before making their way back to Boston to face the Milwaukee Bucks December 8th.
Wade netted a game-high 27 points and Michael Beasley finished with 18 for Miami. The Heat have lost five of their last seven but certainly show better than their record. “Tonight, there’s a lot of good things in a loss,” said Wade. “We were right there. The seasoned team, the veteran team made the plays they had to make at the end. They made the shots we had to make. We had good shots. We just didn’t make them and we missed free throws as well.” Miami will next travel to Portland to matchup with the Trail Blazers on Tuesday, December 1st.
