Eric Clapton has officially announced his upcoming tour for 2013. He will be taking off on his United States tour on March 13 in Phoenix, AZ. He will make stops in 15 different cities before wrapping up with back-to-back performances in April at New York City’s Madison Square Garden as part of the Crossroads Guitar Festival.
Clapton’s team of performers will include Doyle Bramhall II on guitar, Steve Jordan on drums, Chris Stainton on piano and keyboard, Willie Weeks on bass, Paul Carrack on organ and keyboards, and Greg Leisz on pedal steel guitar. Backup vocalists will also include Michelle John and Sharon White. The Wallflowers will be the opening act for the show.
Clapton is tremendously excited for the Crossroads Guitar Festival, saying that it is “the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform on one stage. The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect.”
The two-night festival will feature music and collaborations form the Allman Brothers Band, Brad Paisley, Gary Clark Jr., Jeff Beck, Keith Urban, BB King, and John Mayer.
In addition, Clapton’s website states, “All profits from the Festival will benefit The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Clapton for chemically dependent persons.”
