Winter Classic Construction Begins

The process of building the ice rink in Fenway Park has officially begun for the 2010 Winter Classic. The Boston Bruins are set for their New Year’s Day showdown against the Philadelphia Flyers, with Hockey East teams taking the ice the following weekend. Don’t forget the Legends Classic game on January 2nd, featuring former NHL stand-outs that include Brian Leetch, Pat LaFontaine, Bob Beers, Andy Brickley, Lyndon Byers, Gary Doak, and Ken Hodge.

Bruins players are certainly counting down the days to kick off the new year with some exciting hockey. “I know it’s going to be really busy and I know it’s going to be very special, but until you experience it you can’t dream about it or imagine it,” said Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara. “I’m sure it’s going to be a lot more than you would ever think it’s going to be. I’m sure it’s going to be really loud and being outdoors it will feel kind of weird. When I talked to people that already played some Winter Classics they say once you step on the ice it feels like the ice is so much bigger.”

Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to witness outdoor hockey at Fenway Park! Winter Classic tickets are now available!
