Flyers Win Classic Preview

Kimmo Timonen sent the puck the length of the ice through the air on empty net in the final minute to supply the dagger for the Philadelphia Flyers to defeat the Boston Bruins 3-1 yesterday at the TD Garden. Both teams are surely looking forward to the 2010 Winter Classic events on New Years Day for when they square off at Fenway Park. “The stage is set. I guess you can say that,” said Philadelphia forward James van Riemsdyk. “We’ve got a few games to go; it’s still a few weeks away. But it’s going to be cool.”

The majority of the first two periods showcased a scoreless defensive battle, until Vladimir Sobotka found the net 18:32 into the second. The Flyers then took control to start the third period with a pair of goals from Timonen and Riemsdyk. Kimmo then pumped his statline to finally close it out with the cross-ice goal.

The Bruins are set to take on the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, December 18th at 8:30 PM. Boston Bruins tickets are available now right here at!
