Patriots Can Clinch AFC’s No. 1 Seed With 2 Wins

By on December 21, 2011 in

The 11-3 New England Patriots have just two home games remaining on their regular season schedule against the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills. The franchise just clinched the AFC East following Sunday’s 41-23 win over the Denver Broncos, marking their ninth Division title in eleven seasons. If the Pats can defeat Miami and Buffalo, they will gain a first-round bye and home-field advantage through the playoffs as the AFC’s No. 1 seed.

It’s evident that the 5-9 Dolphins are a much better team than their overall record shows. Miami has gone 5-2 in its last seven games, including a convincing 30-23 victory in Buffalo last week. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick stated that the team’s only focus is on the Dolphins and nothing else.

“Whatever happens, we can’t control what other teams do,” Belichick said Tuesday. “We’re going to try and go out and play well against Miami Saturday. We have to go out and win. If we don’t play well, we’re not going to be where we want to be. Right now we’re worried about Miami.” Purchase your Patriots vs. Dolphins tickets here at Ace!
