Like it or not, Van Halen will be back in 2012 for another reunion tour with original Van Halen frontman, David Lee Roth. The tour will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band. The news was announced on Van-Halen.com this morning. David Lee Roth last performed with the band in 2008, their first reunion tour with Roth. The tour was plagued with cancellations due to Eddie Van Halen’s personal issues and rumors of another stint in rehab.
This tour like the last will feature Eddie’s son, Wolfgang on bass guitar. Original bassist Michael Anthony is currently in the band Chickenfoot with former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar. No word on whether Michael Anthony was invited to join in on this tour or if he just opted not to. Anthony is rumored to have been thrown out of the band due to his close ties with Hagar.
In addition to the 2012 tour, Van Halen will also have an album in the works. It will be their first since 1998’s “Van Halen III”. Dates for the upcoming tour have not been released as of today. Van Halen tickets are expected to go on sale on January 10, 2012.
