Paul Pierce scored 21 points while dishing out seven assists to lead his Boston Celtics past the Indiana Pacers 95-83 Tuesday night at Conseco Fieldhouse. The veteran Celtics lineup took the court with confidence following their 86-78 Christmas Day loss to the Orlando Magic, outscoring the Pacers 29-16 in the fourth quarter while holding them to 26 percent shooting on the night. “You always want to get back on track, especially after a tough loss,” said Pierce. “All of these road games are tough, no matter who you’re playing because teams are comfortable in their home environment.”
Ray Allen netted 7-of-11 from the field for 17 points. Kevin Garnett and Glen Davis split the work inside for 25 points and 17 rebounds combined. The C’s have been able to stay atop the Eastern Conference after winning four of their last five games without stand-out PG Rajon Rondo, who has been sidelined with a sprained left ankle. Rondo is expected to return for tonight’s contest against the Detroit Pistons. Boston will return to the TD Garden Friday, December 31st to matchup with the New Orleans Hornets.
